Story

Second Lieutenant Roy E. Barnes, 27, who grew up in Idaho, was a member of the 101st Airborne Division serving with the 326th Engineer Battalion. Sometime after he was dropped over France after midnight June 6, 1944, he was killed. Military records indicate that Barnes died of a gunshot to the head but don't tell how it happened.

He is buried in the American Cemetery Colleville-sur-Mer in Normandy. Plot E, Row 20, Grave 18

326th Veteran Robert Likam remembered Barnes well and told that the lieutenant was loved by his men.
